Series 6000: Instruction

6151 Class Size

The Board of Education believes that appropriate class size is vital to the learning process, but there

is no single number of students which is inherently right for all classes. The objectives of a

particular course and the methods used in that program will determine class size.

Student-centered learning activities and a high degree of individualized attention to each student are

high priorities in this school district. Appropriate class size is determined by staffing enrollment as

well as the nature of the instruction, the academic ability of the students in the course, and any

special educational needs of enrolled students. It is the curriculum and the methods of instruction to

be employed that determine the appropriate size of any instructional grouping.
