9221 Filling Vacancies

If a Board member resigns, the Board shall make an appointment to fill the unexpired term within 30 days of a vacancy; thereafter, the Board of Selectmen shall make the appointment. 


Such vacancies will be formally announced to the Board at one of its regularly scheduled meetings. At the next regularly scheduled meeting, the vacancy will be filled by majority vote of all members of the Board of Education who are present and the action shall be recorded in the minutes of that meeting. 


If there is no regularly scheduled meeting within 30 days of a vacancy, the Board may call a special meeting. (cf. 9321 - Time, Place and Notification of Regular and Special Meetings)
